I use sterling silver to co-exist with a partner element: gemstones, pearls

design: all my jewellery is created by me in my home studio

DUOdesign Collection is 100% handmade using gemstones, pearls, cultivated bamboo coral, shells and sterling silver. There are beautiful, vibrant African beads including recycled glass and handpainted beads from Ghana, handpainted ceramic beads from Swaziland and Ethiopian silver beads.     

Included are glass beads from Indonesia as well as unusual beads such as 16th century terracotta trade beads from Mali, and forest debris beads from the Philippines.

Silversmithing reflects the wondrous cultures of the world. My collection pays tribute to this diversity by showcasing silver bead components carefully sourced from Bali and Ethiopia. 

The manual techniques of the artisan jeweller are used to create pieces which are a harmonious expression of colour, texture and form.

I make the components myself including the chain links, earring hooks and clasps, all of which are made from sterling silver or fine silver. This ensures that each item is distinctive and created with the care and focus which make it unique and a joy to own.

Working in my studio in Parkview, Johannesburg, I combine beautiful earth and handmade elements into jewellery which uniquely reflects the 21st century woman: a woman of substance, strong, independent, with a love of originality and respect for the world she lives in; a woman who chooses jewellery which is meant to be noticed, which is talked about, and which she wears with pride.
